PalmPalma City Council has initially approved two basic projects for the construction of two buildings on the grounds of the Son Reus Municipal Animal Protection Center. According to a report this Thursday by the Councilor for Social Services, Lourdes Roca, and reported by Europa Press, the first is for the creation of an administrative building to replace the current one, located on the same plot. This new building will adapt to the surroundings and the uneven terrain, improving its integration into the center as a whole, facilitating access and creating a more welcoming space. The existing building, measuring approximately 200 square meters, houses administrative functions that will be maintained in the new building, integrating work areas, meeting rooms, classrooms, storage rooms, and changing rooms. The budget is €1.3 million, and the expected completion time is ten months. The second approved project is for the construction of a new, independent auxiliary building in the Son Reus complex.

This new building aims to address various identified needs, including providing a storage space for food and feed for the center's animals and providing separate restrooms for adults and children in the environmental education classroom. The estimated budget is €440,000.

Transport agreement

The Governing Board of the Majorca Regional Government (CTM), for its part, has also approved the signing of a collaboration agreement between the Mallorca Transport Consortium (CTM), the City Council, and the EMT (Metropolitan Transport and Transportation) for the integration of fares for regular passenger transport services.

The councilor stated that the goal is for users to be able to use transport tickets interchangeably on both urban and interurban networks. Furthermore, transfers and combined use between the two services will be facilitated.

The estimated expenditure for the CTM will be €2.6 million, while the total expenditure for the EMT by 2025 will be €382,000. The agreement will initially last one year, extendable for another four years.
