PalmaThe ATAP union (Association of Public Administration Workers) has called for the cessation of temporary assignments for agents of the Drone Unit (UDROP) due to being a fraudulent act. According to their explanation, the agents were chosen "by hand" through an emergency procedure after the unit's creation in June 2024, but the legal limit of two years for these provisional appointments has already been exceeded.

The selection of personnel was made urgently for the positions of one officer and five police officers, which unilaterally modified and improved working conditions, shifts, and ordinary duties, according to the union.

As they recalled, the regional regulations "are clear" and determine that temporary assignments of duties have "a maximum duration of one year, extendable, at most, for another year."

According to ATAP, after this period has passed, this unit has not been regularized nor have the jobs been advertised through legal systems that guarantee the constitutional principles of equality, merit, and ability.

"To convert a strictly exceptional and urgent measure into a covert and definitive provision system fundamentally violates the Spanish Constitution," they pointed out. The organization has warned that serious responsibilities could be incurred.

Lack of collective bargaining

Given the non-existence of the drone unit in the Staffing Plan (RPT) and the lack of collective bargaining to establish it, ATAP denounces that the officers who form it continue in these positions "without the government team, the Councilor for Citizen Security, nor the Chief of Police having taken any measures".

Furthermore, they describe as "especially serious and controversial" that among those in an irregular situation is a union representative.

According to ATAP, the situation of the drone unit is a demonstration of "the drift of municipal and police management" with "three years of legislature without a fixed course, marked by constant improvisation where totalitarianism reigns and with promises that never materialize".
