Catalina Soler accuses the local police officer of coercion: "I will report him and the person who leaked the report to the Prosecutor's Office."
The mayor of Felanitx has denied the facts
FelanitxThe mayor of Felanitx, Catalina Soler, wanted to respond this Tuesday to the serious accusations against her, extracted from a police report made public on Monday, and in which she is accused Carrajita of uttering a series of insults and obscene gestures towards the Local Police officer Miquel Sastre, during the celebration of the Portocolom wine festival this past weekend, while he was on duty.
Soler began by saying that she completely denies the incident, and that her mother even called her yesterday, worried, "to see where she could testify and say that I wasn't a wine hog because I don't like it. I drank one glass all night." She also stated that she will take the case to the Prosecutor's Office, in addition to reporting that an internal investigation has been opened within the Local Police itself to clarify the events.
"The report lacks a complete second part," Soler criticized. "The officer on duty made sexist gestures and comments to me, telling me, among other things, that my balls were bigger than mine and other comments about female sexual behavior that I won't mention here."
According to Soler, the incident occurred when she was at the Uva Wine Fest, which took place on July 12 in Portocolom, "and I went to see what was happening on Joan d'Austria Street, where ambulances were treating a man in an alcoholic coma." He says that it was then that he saw Sastre, and told him that he hadn't seen him all night. "He replied that he had had a lot of oil milling. It was here that I told him, jokingly, that he must have had mention with nothing."Carrajita (Soler's family nickname).
According to Soler, at this point the officer "asked me if I was threatening him, to which I simply replied no... we're at a party, Miquelet. It was at this point that he started making a series of sexist comments to the patrolman next to him."
Coming from behind
The mayor of Felanitx also recalled that on May 6 of this year, "in the Town Hall meeting room and with the Police Councillor, the Inspector, the second in command present, we told him that since he had failed the inspector exam, we should restructure the service. He announced that he would take us to court."
Soler, however, has gone even further back in time and says that she has a WhatsApp conversation with Sastre, "on August 2, 2024, almost a year ago, he told me that I had made a mistake when appointing the chief inspector and that... a position after coercing us to remove it for a whole year," she denounced.
In the Prosecutor's Office
Catalina Soler also said that "as mayor" she will take the case to the Prosecutor's Office, "because I find the events being reported to be extremely serious." "As a person, I also intend to report it. An internal investigation has already been opened within the Felanitx Local Police." "This man hasn't spoken to the Police Councilor (Sebastià Adrover) for a whole year."
Regarding the opposition, she said that "it's incredible that the spokesperson for the PSOE (Gràcia González), who is a lawyer, is asking me to resign, when the Attorney General of the State, from her party, is being investigated for leaking public documents, as Damiana Massu has also done." Regarding the Bloc, which also held the mayor accountable, she added that "they saw the opportunity and simply joined the party."
In this regard, Soler has reiterated that he does not intend to resign: "The boat is never abandoned, despite the storm."
