New voucher campaign to encourage local consumption: "We must curb the impact of US tariffs"
This measure attempts to mitigate the impact that the new US tariffs could have on Balearic products.

PalmThe Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Natural Environment presented a collaboration agreement this Monday with the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca, through which it will contribute just over 360,000 euros for a voucher campaign for the consumption of local products. This campaign will allow consumers to discount 10 euros for every 20 euros spent, up to a maximum of 60 euros.
Regional Minister Joan Simonet, along with the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca, Eduardo Soriano, signed this agreement, through which the entity will manage the aid program through a dedicated website. On this website, buyers can find out which producers (farms, direct sales, fishermen's guilds, agri-food cooperatives, and agri-food industries) are participating, and which products qualify for the voucher. The campaign will be carried out throughout the Balearic Islands and is scheduled to begin on October 13.
"This initiative is part of the measures the Government is implementing to mitigate the impact that the new US tariffs could have on Balearic products. If domestic consumption of local products is strengthened, the influence of foreign markets on Balearic producers will decrease," Simonet emphasized.
In this regard, the Director General of Agri-Food Quality and Local Products, Joan Llabrés, highlighted that it is also a "good tool" for establishing direct contact between producers and buyers. This campaign facilitates the creation of "a more advantageous relationship for both parties, because it creates bonds of trust and loyalty."
For his part, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca stressed that it is "fundamental" to incentivize the productive sector, considering that 90% of the sector depends on foreign products, a figure that "is not good for the Balearic economy." "The primary sector needs help, and that's why the Chamber is making itself available to the Regional Ministry with this campaign, to provide the sector with the recognition and visibility it deserves," he emphasized.
