PalmaThe Electoral Board of the Menorca zone has requested the Island Council of Menorca to remove a promotional video for the 'Bons Menorca' campaign from social media, which was published last Monday, for violating electoral law. This was reported by Més per Menorca in a statement, where it criticized the actions of the island's president, Adolfo Vilafranca, who stars in the video along with the island's Minister of Economy, Maria Antònia Taltavull.
Despite appreciating the informative intention of the Island Council in the video, the Electoral Board indicates that the way it has been published "may indirectly contribute to shaping the voting intention of some electors".
The Menorquinists have underlined that this decision comes after the Electoral Board warned different town councils on the island for the dissemination of political content that did not comply with electoral legislation. According to them, the island's governing team "has not only ignored these precedents, but has ended up engaging in an action that contravenes the rules that must guarantee the neutrality of institutions during electoral periods".
All in all, Més per Menorca has demanded that the PP apply to its public officials "the same level of requirement that it demands from other political groups".
