PalmThe government has reactivated part of its emergency plan to address tariffs after US President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen agreed to increase them to 15% for almost all exports.

Sources from the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Innovation have confirmed that the aid program designed to offset the estimated additional cost of tariffs, endowed with €3.5 million, has been reactivated. On the same day the government presented the emergency plan, endowed with a total of €6 million, Trump announced a 90-day pause in the implementation of the tariffs.

It was then that the regional vice president and regional minister of economy, Antoni Costa, confirmed that these 3.5 million euros would be reserved pending the resolution of the truce and confirmation of the implementation of the tariffs. The plan also includes a two million euro allocation for the promotion of local products and 500,000 euros to implement commercial objectives to open new markets to which to export products from the Balearic Islands.
