PalmSencelles Town Council has requested that the Balearic Government's Directorate General for Water Resources conduct an urgent technical study on the environmental impact of industrial waste into the Solleric stream following the death of around twenty trees in recent days.

The Town Council explained in a press release that for 25 years, the municipality has suffered from industrial waste dumped into the stream. Despite controls by the Ministry of the Sea and the Water Cycle, this continues to cause serious environmental damage in the section between Camino Viejo de Muro and the Solle stream.

According to the City Council, the large, dead trees located next to the stream may have been damaged by the accumulation of pollutants, which could also have affected the groundwater and wells in the area.

The mayor of Sencelles, Juan Carlos Verde, stated that the death of the trees makes him suspect that "something is not being done right" and has insisted on the need to understand its causes and adopt measures to stop environmental degradation. In the statement, the City Council expressed its willingness to collaborate with the General Directorate of Water Resources and other relevant bodies to ensure the recovery and conservation of the Solleric stream.
