The UIB will have a women's indoor football team
The agreement between the Miquel Jaume Foundation and the UIB will allow students to combine studies and federated sport with scholarships and academic credits
PalmaThe Miquel Jaume-Palma Futsal Foundation and the University of the Balearic Islands have signed a collaboration agreement that will involve the creation of a women's futsal team made up exclusively of university students. This is a pioneering initiative that aims to strengthen the link between elite sport and academic training on the Balearic campus.
The agreement, with an initial duration of four seasons, was formalized this Monday at an event attended by the president of Illes Balears Palma Futsal, José Tirado, and the vice-rectors Adrià Muntaner and Cristina Moreno.
According to a statement from the UIB, the objective of the project is to offer students the possibility of combining their studies with playing federated futsal, as well as participating in university-level competitions.
Team members will be able to join the UIB's university sports program, access the campus sports facilities free of charge, and receive academic recognition through ECTS credits.
The agreement also foresees the progressive implementation of tuition scholarships and other complementary aid, with the aim of facilitating the continuity of athletes within the university environment and strengthening their academic and sporting careers.
