PalmOnce again, the process for allocating positions to temporary teachers is controversial. The SIAU union has denounced that the General Directorate of Teaching Personnel, now headed by Joana Maria Cabrer, "has decided to censor the PDF of available positions for temporary teachers in this summer's provisional assignment process, unlike what happened in previous years." SIAU explains that "the loss of transparency and opacity are still advancing at a rapid pace while teachers see their rights continually curtailed." "SIAU demands the immediate publication of the PDF of available positions." For its part, the Regional Ministry has assured that temporary teachers completing the process can consult all available positions, and that schools can also view them. "The PDF has not been posted early in the morning to avoid a website crash. It will be posted throughout the morning."

The selection process for positions began this Tuesday, July 29, and will run until August 1, at 10 a.m. Since early this morning, WhatsApp groups for temporary workers have been buzzing with messages critical of the Ministry and the errors in the process: "Not even on Netflix can you see what's happening here," says one of the stickers that have been sent. "We can already expect that There will again be awards to retired people", says another. They're not the only angry teachers. Some have been able to complete the process: "I did it once and only got four spots. I started again and now there are 44," says another message. "The Hunger Games begin," says another affected teacher.

SIAU has also denounced that, "as happens every year," it is not possible to complete the temporary employment process from start to finish "without errors." In fact, the server crashed numerous times throughout the day, forcing many applicants to restart the process and unleashing a feeling of frustration and despair among many.

ARA Baleares has also had access to images of the job placement portal. In the Spanish version, for example, a supposed Primary Education position at the CEIP Puede Fallar in Ibiza appears. References are also made to the teacher quota for the 2022-2023 academic year. That is, three years ago. Furthermore, a mention of toilet paper appears in a position at the Mallorca School of Art. Regarding the appearance of the CEIP Pots Fallar and toilet paper, the Regional Ministry assures that these are not errors but rather due to the fact that the person completing the procedure "has activated automatic translation of everything they see in their personal browser."

The interim processes, controversial year after year

Temporary employment processes are always controversial. It was last year when the Department of Education completed and published theallocation of temporary positions The incident sparked outrage among a group of teachers who, well into the night, were still in a state of anxiety and worry, waiting to learn their immediate future. It wasn't until approximately 1:00 a.m. that teachers began receiving emails informing them of their positions, and the Regional Ministry published the results of the awards. However, as hundreds of people tried to access the website at once, it crashed.

Due to the incident, the appointment of temporary teachers began on September 3 (also for salary purposes), although they were able to join the school on Thursday, September 4, instead of the mandatory Tuesday, September 3. Those assigned to another island had until Saturday, September 6, to submit their appointments. Furthermore, the Regional Ministry brought forward the process into July, as it has done this year.
