PalmaTeachers in the Balearic Islands who wish to move to another autonomous community will be able to submit their applications from November 5 to 26, within the framework of the state transfer competition, coordinated by the Ministry of Education. Both career civil servants who wish to change their destination and civil servants in training who do not yet have a permanent position, as well as those career civil servants who are in expectation (without a permanent position), can participate. This procedure is announced in alternate years to the regional transfer competition and allows for the mobility of teaching staff between communities. Thus, teachers from the Islands can opt for a destination outside the archipelago, while teachers from other territories can also apply for positions in the Balearic Islands.
The Minister of Education, Antoni Vera, has explained that the coincidence of this process with the preparation for the 2027 teaching competitive examinations has meant that the Ministry is working on a careful forecast of the positions that will be announced. The resolution of the transfer competition is one of the elements that must be taken into account when planning the vacancies available for the competitive examinations.
The competitive examinations
The teaching examinations in the Balearic Islands will begin on April 17th and will include 474 positions for different teaching bodies. The Department of Education has announced the date six months in advance to provide certainty to candidates and facilitate the organization of educational centers. The call will include 275 secondary education positions, 141 for primary school teachers, 45 for specialist professors in singular vocational training sectors, three for official language school professors, nine for music and performing arts, and one for plastic arts and design. By island, they will be distributed into 240 positions in Ibiza, 134 in Mallorca, 50 in Menorca, and 33 in Formentera. Vera has highlighted the effort planned for the Pityusic Islands and Menorca, where she has ensured that the number of positions will be doubled compared to the previous examinations.
