PP-Vox agreement to ensure that siblings, uncles, and nephews pay less when receiving inheritances

PalmThe PP and Vox announced this Friday the introduction of larger tax breaks to the budgets expected to be approved next week. Specifically, the inheritance tax breaks for siblings, aunts, uncles, and nephews have been extended.

When the deceased has no descendants, the break will be increased from the current 50% to 60%. Otherwise, it will increase from 25% to 35%. Tax benefits for gift tax have also been expanded. "We believe that inheritances should not be taxed," explained the vice president and spokesperson for the Catalan government, Antoni Costa: "We have a frankly positive assessment of the agreement, which is in line with the tax reform we have implemented."

Vox spokesperson Manuela Cañadas defended the amendments in a statement. "The continuity of the historic tax cuts initiated this term is guaranteed," she said. "Citizens should not have to pay again for what their parents already paid," he said. "This is a victory for tax justice and common sense."
