PalmaThe Electoral Board has ordered the Government to remove from its official website some of the announcements that the president, Marga Prohens, made during the last general policy debate in Parliament, following a complaint by the PSIB. The socialists consider that these announcements violate electoral legislation, while the PP highlights that the Board has dismissed the request to open a sanctioning file against the president.

The second vice-president of Parliament and socialist deputy, Mercedes Garrido, explained that the complaint was filed because "Prohens dedicated herself to making partisan announcements". Garrido has accused the president of using the debate and the institutions for partisan purposes and has asserted that the announcements made during the parliamentary session are prohibited by electoral legislation. Furthermore, the deputy has criticized that Prohens makes announcements that, as she stated, she later fails to fulfill. "We demand that she complies with the rules of the game that the rest of us follow. If we can all comply with them, she even more so," she concluded.

The PP defends that the Board has dismissed the complaint

The PP has emphasized that the Electoral Board's resolution was limited to ordering the removal of a press release, while the PSIB had requested the opening of a sanctioning procedure against Prohens both for the convening of the general policy debate and for the content of her intervention.

The deputy spokesperson for the PP, Marga Durán, has assured that the Electoral Board has dismissed the complaint against the debate and against the president's intervention. "The PSIB, in its strategy of desperation, intended for President Prohens to be sanctioned for her summary and for the measures announced during the general policy debate, and the Electoral Board has exposed them," she stated.
