PalmThe Government and the Alcúdia City Council met with residents affected by the new route of the high-voltage cable, who were grouped together under the Association for a New Agreement for the Alcúdia Cable (ANACA). During the meeting, there were some tense moments. Before the meeting, residents gathered to demand that the power cable be relocated through the Bay of Alcúdia, arguing that it reduces the impact on the area and the health of residents. The City Council and the Regional Government explained that a period is now open for everyone to submit objections.

The meeting, which took place at the Alcúdia Cultural Center, began around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday and lasted several hours. The meeting was attended by the mayor of the municipality, Fina Linares; the Director General of Circular Economy, Energy Transition, and Climate Change of the Government, Diego Viu; representatives of ANACA; and residents.

The association has demanded that this meeting, "initially presented as informal," be held with complete transparency and in the presence of citizens and the media, given the relevance of the issue. "We do not accept that this meeting be held behind closed doors, as happened in the negotiation of the route approved in July, which was carried out without real and diverse citizen participation."

In its opinion, this is a project that has been proposed "without any prior environmental impact study" despite the fact that it crosses inhabited areas, rural roads, and natural environments of great value. Residents also criticize the fact that the conservation of posidonia is prioritized over people.
