PalmThe General Directorate of Emergencies raised the alert level for coastal phenomena (IG-1 of the Meteobal Plan) to orange this Saturday in Mallorca and Menorca, as reported by the agency via social media. According to information from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the north and northeast of Mallorca will have a yellow alert for coastal phenomena activated this Saturday at 6:00 PM, which will be upgraded to orange at midday on Sunday, at which time a yellow alert for wind is also expected. In the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, the alert will be orange for coastal phenomena from 7:00 AM and yellow for wind from 10:00 AM. There will also be an orange alert on the eastern coast. In Menorca, Aemet will activate an orange alert at 10:00 AM for coastal phenomena and wind gusts that could reach 90 km/h. In the Pitiusas Islands, a yellow weather warning will be in effect from 7:00 a.m. on Sunday due to coastal phenomena. Emergency services have recommended that citizens take extreme precautions, follow safety instructions, and call 112 in case of emergency. The Meteobal Plan establishes that IG0 (yellow) indicates a minor local adverse weather phenomenon, controllable with a rapid response, while IG1 (orange) anticipates a high risk to people and property, with the possible need to mobilize resources from beyond the municipality for monitoring and to ensure safety.
