Outrage in Marratxí: Aena retakes the Son Bonet solar park
The photovoltaic macropark has already been rejected by all administrations and by the Spanish Senate.

PalmThe Son Bonet Green Lung Platform (SBPV) has denounced that Aena has resumed its "destructive offensive" against the Son Bonet green space following the announcement by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez of an airport investment plan for the period 2026-2031. The organization warns that this plan entails reactivating the Son Bonet photovoltaic megapark project, despite the institutional and public rejection received so far.
According to the platform, the project has already been unanimously rejected by the institutions of the Balearic Islands and even by the Spanish Senate, in addition to generating an "unprecedented" neighborhood mobilization in the municipality of Marratxí. They consider the operation to be a response to speculative interests rather than a real commitment to sustainability.
The SBPV accuses Aena of a lack of transparency and of serving economic lobbies, and points out that the company obtained the largest profit in its history last year. They also criticize the energy self-consumption plan as a "farce" of greenwashing, since Son Sant Joan Airport continues to be one of the main CO₂ emitters in the Islands.
Faced with this situation, the platform announces new mobilizations and assures that it will resort to all legal and citizen avenues to defend Son Bonet as a green lung and public space for Marratxí, against the interests attributed to Aena and the Spanish government.
