PalmaThe DANA Adam will once again bring rainfall to the Balearic Islands tonight and during the early hours of Tuesday, with downpours that will enter through Ibiza and Formentera and move towards Mallorca and Menorca. The rainfall could accumulate up to 30 liters per m2 in one hour, which is why the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) will keep the yellow warning for rain and storms active throughout the Archipelago.

The forecast for new rainfall arrives after a day marked by intense precipitation and more than 300 incidents recorded in the Balearic Islands. Even so, the Government's Directorate General for Emergencies and Interior has decided to lower the alert levels following the Cecopi meeting for the Meteobal and Inunbal plans on Monday afternoon.

Thus, Mallorca moves from red to yellow alert, while Ibiza and Formentera go down from red to orange level. Menorca, which was on orange alert, also moves to yellow level. This reduction will allow educational activity to resume on Tuesday, as well as outdoor sports, social, and cultural activities.

The risk of flooding remains in the Pityusic Islands

Despite the general improvement in the meteorological situation, the Inunbal Plan remains activated on the four islands, but with different operational levels. In Ibiza and Formentera, operational situation 2 is maintained, given the complexity of the situation and the large amounts of water accumulated over the last 24 hours. Emergency teams continue working on the recovery of the affected areas.

In Mallorca, on the other hand, the operational situation of the Inunbal Plan moves from level 2 to level 0, because conditions are more favorable.

Aemet's forecast for Tuesday points to overcast skies with locally heavy or very heavy showers and storms. During the afternoon, the cloud cover will tend to alternate with some intervals of less overcast sky, although isolated and occasional showers could still occur.

Night temperatures will remain with few changes, while daytime temperatures will drop. The wind will blow light or moderate from the south and will turn to the west during the morning.

The UME could leave Mallorca

Regarding the emergency device, the contingent of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) deployed to Mallorca could withdraw from the island if the situation does not worsen during the night.

In Formentera, the intervention of military personnel has been decisive in speeding up the response to incidents, in coordination with the rest of the island's emergency services.

Despite the lowering of alert levels, the forecast for new downpours and the still delicate situation in the Pityusic Islands maintain the need to follow the authorities' recommendations and exercise extreme caution in the face of possible water accumulation.
