Palma renews the entire Three Kings Parade with 22 new floats
The 2026 Three Kings Parade will feature new costumes, new characters, and a three-year artistic project with an investment of 834,900 euros.
PalmThe 2026 Three Kings Parade will feature more than 20 floats to bring "magic and tradition" to the streets of Palma. This was announced by the Councilor for Education and Citizen Participation, Lourdes Roca, on Monday at the presentation of the parade program. This year's parade will be "completely new, with a total of 22 floats, all newly created, surpassing the 17 of the previous year and the 14 of 2024." However, she clarified, "if we include the floats from other organizations and collaborators, the total rises to 24, in addition to a bus and two trains." "But it's not just the floats that will be new," Roca added, emphasizing that "everything is new, especially the costumes of all the characters participating in the parade, including the royal pages, with more than 50 designs created for this year's event."
As the councilwoman explained, the goal of this municipal government team is to "recover and enrich the tradition" of a night like January 5th. In this sense, the City Council wants to "highlight traditional trades and customs and reinforce our own cultural identity." She continued, adding that the Three Kings Parade, for which "4,000 sweets have been prepared" to distribute, "will not only guarantee accessibility for people with reduced mobility, but will also have designated areas for senior citizens." Thus, 2026 will mark "a turning point" for the Parade, thanks to "a budget of €834,900 for this year's event."
The Three Kings will arrive at the Old Wharf on January 5th at 6:00 PM
The Three Kings will arrive at the Muelle Vell (Old Wharf) in Palma on January 5th at 6:00 PM. Prior to this, on January 3rd, the arrival of the three royal pages and standard-bearers will take place in the Plaça de Cort (Court Square), accompanied by the entourage of ambassadors and royal postmen, as well as the reading of the royal messengers.
The royal pages will feature new additions and will debut new costumes in 2026. For the first time, there will also be a 'letter logbook' in which "the names of the children who deliver their letters to the royal pages on January 3rd will be recorded, making each delivery unique." Besides the pages' costumes, the other major new feature for 2026 is a new character, the head of the letter logbook, who "will record and consult the children's names." Roca concluded by inviting everyone to "experience this parade like never before, enjoying the magic, tradition, and creativity."
The Cavalcade of the Light of the East and the Root Trades
The artistic director of the Three Kings Parade, Daniel Puig, explained that the project, "The Light of the East and Traditional Trades," will take place over three years, "so the budget should be understood as an investment in developing a story that we want to tell over the next three years," and in which "we want to emphasize the arrival of the Three Kings." The parade will begin with the municipal prelude, featuring giants, big-headed figures, mounted police, the municipal band, and xeremiers (traditional Mallorcan musicians). From there, he continued, the "fantasy and wonder" portion will begin, which, once again, is the responsibility of the Trui Group.
