They organize an illegal macro route in Artà with 900 tourists in the middle of market day

PalmThe Artà Town Council has opened a sanctioning file against a company that organizes tourist routes in Mallorca, following some recently detected actions in the municipality, which constitute a breach of current regulations. The events occurred last Tuesday, after a citizen alerted to the presence of people making spray graffiti in the public thoroughfare. From this notice, the responsible company was identified, the Town Council documented the facts, and has prepared the corresponding report.

According to the information gathered, the activity was massive, with an approximate participation of 900 people, and had been advertised by the organization. During its development, the guides marked the route with spray paint and the placement of illegal signage at different points in the municipality. Specifically, 25 stickers have been documented on urban furniture, seven spray paintings on asphalt – both in the urban area and on rural paths – and seven signs fixed with cable ties to urban signals.

Without authorization or communication to the City Council

Furthermore, it is noted that these actions were carried out without prior authorization or communication to the City Council, despite being an activity that involved a massive occupation of public space and which, moreover, coincided with market day. The described events: the carrying out of graffiti and soiling of the public highway, the placement of stickers and posters in unauthorized spaces, the carrying out of an activity without a license, the affecting of road signage, and the lack of communication and authorization of the activity, may constitute infringements of various municipal regulations.

Collectively, sanctioning proceedings have been initiated for these infringements, to which the cost of the cleaning work and the removal of the installed elements must be added, which must be borne by the company. In the event that it does not do so, this work will be carried out subsidiarily by the City Council and subsequently charged to the company.

The Artà City Council wishes to reiterate that it will not tolerate this type of action in the municipality and that it will act with the utmost diligence and forcefulness in the face of any behavior that violates regulations and affects public space, with the aim of guaranteeing coexistence, compliance with municipal regulations, and avoiding situations of impunity.
