PalmaMÉS per Palma has denounced that the Columbarium of Dignity in the municipal cemetery was closed this Sunday, All Saints' Day, a fact that prevented relatives of victims of Francoist repression from accessing the space where their remains rest.

After the act carried out at the Wall of Memory, several attendees headed to the columbarium and found it closed. Faced with the impossibility of entering, they left flowers at the enclosure's door.

The coordinator of MÉS per Palma, Xisca Mir, has described the situation as an "insult to the victims of Francoism and their families" and has criticized that it occurred precisely on a day when the City Council had extended cemetery hours to facilitate visits.

The party also links this episode to municipal policy regarding democratic memory and recalls that, since the arrival of Jaime Martínez to the mayoralty, Cort has stopped organizing the institutional tribute to Emili Darder, the last republican mayor of Palma, executed by firing squad in 1937.

They are now demanding explanations from the City Council regarding the reasons why the columbarium was closed, that family access be guaranteed, and that measures be adopted so that a similar situation does not happen again.
