PalmaThe seasonal permanent workers in the Balearic Islands will have to wait nearly eight days to get an appointment at the Balearic Islands Employment Service (SOIB) during this year's campaign, which began this Tuesday and will run until January 31, 2027. To facilitate access to the service, users will be able to check available appointments in real time and book an in-person or telephone one.
The director of the SOIB, María Luján Olivera, explained in a press conference that the new system will allow checking available times and completing the reservation in four steps. First, you must enter the postal code; then, select the procedure and the sub-procedure to be carried out and, finally, choose the date and time. The appointment confirmation will arrive by phone or email.
Appointments can be requested through the SOIB website or application, as well as by phone, at the number 900 101 951. According to Olivera, the system aims to facilitate access to the service, reduce difficulties in finding an available time, and make the service more agile and simple.
28 more workers to face the campaign
The SOIB has reinforced the office staff to handle the increase in work during the campaign months. In total, 28 workers have joined: 22 interim staff and 6 reinforcement personnel.
In addition to the procedures related to seasonal workers (permanent seasonal workers), the service reminds that people who are already registered as job seekers can reactivate their application online, without the need to request an appointment or travel to an office.
To do so, they must access the job application reactivation section on the SOIB website. Once the process is completed, they will receive the necessary information to consult the document with the renewal dates for the application.
On the other hand, people who have not yet registered with the public employment service and foreign citizens who have not communicated the renewal of their residence or work permit will indeed need to request an appointment.
The application for unemployment benefits, for its part, corresponds to the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), which has its own system for registering as a job seeker.
