PalmaThe Minister of the Sea and the Water Cycle, Juan Manuel Lafuente, has confirmed that preliminary proceedings have been opened and that they have requested information from the Sant Antoni City Council regarding the Egyptian-themed party with an artificial lake held at Sa Pedrera in mid-August.

Socialist deputy Pilar Costa asked the minister during the plenary session of Parliament about the actions that the Government will promote regarding the "pharaonic water waste" consented to by the City Council at this party.

The events took place at Sa Pedrera, where an artificial lake was created with 170 tons of water in the middle of a drought pre-alert.

Lafuente pointed out that any action of water waste "is not appropriate" and explained that, despite the actions promoted by the Ministry, they must be aware of the reality and verify, once the proceedings are carried out, if there have been infractions. "The Government has managed water adequately in Ibiza this summer, despite the power cuts," said Lafuente.

Costa, for her part, has accused the minister "of mocking the citizens" by claiming now that the use of water at the party was not appropriate, even though it was the City Council itself that authorized it. The deputy, furthermore, has ensured that on the island everyone was aware of the event. "Ibiza is already fed up with the excesses, the overcrowding, its permissiveness and that they think everything can be bought with money," added Costa.

Lafuente has ensured that the party did not have the support of the City Council and has reiterated that the Government is following the regulations in this case and has already requested information about the event.
