PalmaThe mayor of Campos, Xisca Porquer (PP), will not run as a candidate for mayor in the next municipal elections, scheduled for May 23, 2027. Porquer announced the decision this Saturday through a message published on social media, in which she takes stock of the eight years at the head of the municipality and defines them as "the most passionate" of her life.

"Being mayor of my town has been an immense honor and a responsibility that I have always assumed with one conviction: to love Campos above all else," she wrote. In the same message, she thanked the trust, support, and affection she has received over these years and assured that she takes with her "much more than I could have ever imagined."

Porquer, who took office as mayor in 2019, stated that she will continue to hold the position until the 2027 municipal elections "with the same enthusiasm as the first day" and with her "commitment to Campos intact." The mayor also defended the two absolute majority legislatures she has led at the head of the City Council and assured that, beyond the electoral result, she will "always keep absolute" the pride of being from Campos and the love for the municipality.

"Thank you for letting me be part of your lives and for having been part of mine. Being mayor is an honor that I carry and will always carry in my heart," she concluded. Porquer thus closes the door to a third term, although she will remain at the head of the City Council during the remaining months of the legislature.

It should be remembered that last July, Porquer caused a controversy by breaking into the human chain in defense of Es Trenc organized by GOB and Terraferida while the writer Sebastià Alzamora was reading the manifesto.

Parties, collectives, and civil society criticized and lamented the mayor's attitude, which they labeled as a "lamentable spectacle with a provocative attitude"; she denied any intention "to overshadow or take prominence away from the act" and accused the environmentalists of causing an "attack" on the natural park.
