They condemn a bank worker from Mallorca for stealing more than 300,000 euros from clients

PalmaA bank employee in Mallorca has accepted this Tuesday a sentence of one year and three months in prison for fraudulently appropriating more than 300,000 that she has returned to clients.

The Provincial Court issued a judgment of conformity this Tuesday in a preliminary hearing after the parties reached an agreement, which takes into account the mitigating circumstance of undue delay due to the time the case was paralyzed and the reparation of damages, after the convicted person returned the amounts appropriated to the victims.

In this context, the woman will not go to prison on the condition that she does not re-offend in the next two years. The events took place between January 2010 and April 2014, when she worked at a bank in a town in Mallorca. The woman admitted that she took advantage of her position at the institution and that she was in charge of the custody and administration of client funds of the institution.

To keep the money, she made cash withdrawals from accounts without the knowledge or consent of clients or transferred amounts from clients' accounts to her own. These actions were sometimes carried out from her workstation terminal or from the work terminal of other employees who were not present.
