PalmaThe National Police arrested Francisco Tomás Fernández Cortés this Tuesday, known as 'l'Ico', after he caused a serious incident at Son Llàtzer hospital. According to the investigation, the man entered the hospital premises early in the morning brandishing a firearm, which caused moments of great tension among staff and users.

According to police sources, eyewitnesses claim that around 06:15 AM the son of 'la Paca entered the premises shouting "I'm going to shoot myself". During the altercation, he allegedly manipulated the gun's magazine several times and displayed it in an intimidating manner while showing several cartridges. Faced with this situation, some of the staff took refuge for protection.

When the officers arrived at the hospital, the man had already fled the scene in a vehicle heading towards Son Banya.

The police search has focused on this area because investigators are studying a possible connection between the events at Son Llàtzer and an incident recorded hours earlier in the settlement, where several shots were allegedly heard, presumably fired from a firearm during a fight.

During the operation, officers detected a vehicle speeding. After ordering it to stop, a pursuit began which ended when they intercepted it. Given the possibility that the driver was carrying a firearm, the police drew their service weapons.

Inside the vehicle, officers found a blood-stained pistol on the front seat. The driver, identified as 'l'Ico', had several injuries to his arms and there were also traces of blood inside the car. Furthermore, the Police confirmed that he was driving without a valid license.

For these acts, the National Police have arrested him as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of public disorder, illegal possession of weapons, and against road safety. Investigators also attribute particular seriousness to the disruption of the hospital's operations, which led to the temporary suspension of the Emergency service.

The National Police Robbery Unit has taken charge of the investigation to clarify the circumstances of the case, determine if there is a connection with the previous incidents in Son Banya, and ascertain the origin of the injuries sustained by the detainee, who was transferred to a healthcare center for medical assistance.

The seized pistol has been sent to the Scientific Police so that they can determine its nature and check if it is suitable for firing real shots. According to initial information, the weapon contained live ammunition, including a casing and a bullet.
