PalmThe Manacor City Council has formally conveyed to the Ben Amics association its willingness to host the Pride celebration in the municipality, after learning of the cancellation of the festival planned in Palma. The council has followed this situation with concern and believes that, at a time like the present, “drawing back is not an option”.

The invitation from the Manacor council comes after the tug-of-war between Ben Amics and the Palma City Council. This Monday, the entity held Cort responsible for the definitive cancellation of the festival: it is a consequence of years of administrative inaction, lack of planning, and a sustained process of dismantling municipal LGTBI policies.

In this regard, the City Council defends that the claim of Pride cannot be left without space, and has expressed its support for entities working for the defense of the rights of the LGTBIQ+ collective.

With this offer, Manacor makes the municipality's public spaces available to Ben Amics, as well as all the necessary institutional collaboration to move the celebration there. “We do not want any entity to feel alone in the face of institutional obstacles. Manacor is your home”, has conveyed from the City Council.

The council has also emphasized the will to consolidate Manacor as a leading city in diversity and inclusion, open to everyone and committed to rights and freedoms. “We don’t want Mallorca to be left without a dignified Pride”, conveys the letter that has been sent to Ben Amics.
