SFM reduces special train services for the Sineu Much festival.

The works at the Virgen de Lucas station in Palma are forcing the service to reduce frequencies and making it impossible for more trains to enter service.

La Mucada had to change its date in 2017 and since then it has been celebrated on the first Monday of August.

PalmMallorca Railway Services (SFM) will not be able to carry out the special train reinforcement services of recent years due to the Much de Sineu festival, this Monday, August 11, due to construction work on the overpass near Verge de Lluc station, which has forced the company to reduce frequencies and makes it impossible to run more trains, especially during the first two weeks of August. Despite these limitations, SFM will be able to add a backup train and will have metro units, with greater capacity, to cover these routes next Monday.

As explained by the Ministry of Mobility in a press release, these works on the crossing located on Calle del Greco in Palma, which began last week, require traffic to be used on a single track—instead of the usual two, one in each direction—between the Son Fuster stations and the Marratxí industrial estate in both directions, affecting traffic throughout the network, which has had a negative impact on the network.

Due to the disruptions resulting from the construction work, SFM has had to modify its summer schedules from last Tuesday until Sunday, August 17. During this period, the same schedules as those operating on weekends will apply on weekdays, with an additional three trains in the early morning hours.

The railway company took this measure after the delays and service cancellations experienced last Monday and Friday, in order to offer a reliable service and comply with established schedules, in order to minimize inconvenience to train users.

Thus, on Monday, the current regular service will be offered, with one train every hour, both outbound from Palma or Manacor and outbound from Sineu, and a backup train may be added. The last trains departing from Sineu will be at 6:42 p.m., 7:42 p.m., and 8:42 p.m. The special train will be at 9:00 p.m., and the last two at 9:42 p.m. and 10:42 p.m. SFM will also have metro units to cover this service, with greater capacity.

However, sources from the Government, SFM and the Sineu City Council recommend looking for other alternatives to this trip, staggering the departure from the municipality without waiting for the last trains of the day and avoiding a large influx at the last hour of the day at Sineu station, taking into account these circumstances, which have been the subject of a meeting and have been the subject of a meeting and have been the subject of a Civil meeting.
