PalmaThe Association for the Aid of the Patient's Companion of the Balearic Islands has been distinguished with the Colonya Caixa Pollença Award for Social Action at the ARA Balears Awards, an award that recognizes projects with a direct impact on improving people's lives and, especially, the most vulnerable groups.
The jury has valued the continuous work carried out by the entity, focused on offering support to citizens suffering from illness and to their relatives or close persons, often in sudden moments of great emotional and vital fragility. This is help that, in many cases, arrives where the system does not foresee a response or cannot provide it quickly enough.
Among the most outstanding aspects are the large number of cases accompanied over the years, as well as the human quality and professionalism of the service. The association has become a reference resource for many families who need guidance, listening, and support in processes of illness and hospitalization.
The award also aims to value an often invisible reality. The jury has remarked that, despite the importance of their work, the entity does not yet have the social recognition it deserves. In this regard, the award aims to contribute to giving visibility to their work and strengthening their capacity to obtain more resources and support.
