Three deaths found in the Balearic Sea this week
Since the beginning of the year, more than a dozen lifeless bodies have been located

The Civil Guard has opened an investigation to try to identify the victim and determine the circumstances of their death, sources from the corps have confirmed to Europa Press. During this week, according to information provided by the Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands, four boats with 78 migrants on board have arrived on the coasts of Mallorca – including Cabrera.
Another corpse in Menorca
In parallel, the National Police has opened another investigation to clarify the circumstances of the death of another person, presumably a migrant, who has been found on the coast of Menorca. It was last Saturday, police sources have detailed, when a citizen alerted the emergency services to the discovery of a lifeless body in Cala de Macar de Binillautí.
The firefighters rescued the body, which was in a rocky area. According to the first inquiries, it is a man wearing a red life vest.
The main hypothesis, although other possibilities are not ruled out, is that it is a migrant who lost his life during the raft journey.
On Tuesday another body, of which no data is yet known, was found in the Estufador area, in Formentera.
About fifteen deaths
Since the beginning of the year, more than a dozen lifeless bodies have been found at sea. Last year, more than fifty were found.
According to data compiled by EFE, from information provided by the Government Delegation and the Ministry of the Interior, since the beginning of the year, 2,330 migrants have arrived in the Balearic Islands aboard 124 makeshift boats.
In addition, the migrant aid organization Caminando Fronteras has recorded the death of 507 people in the first five months of this year on the irregular migration route from Algeria to the Balearic Islands and the eastern Iberian Peninsula.
