They report abuses in the security protocol of the Rels B concert: "They knocked me down between five"

PalmaA resident who attended the Rels B concert this Friday in Palma has reported to ARA Balears that he suffered a disproportionate response from the event's security staff. According to the witness, several members of the security team tackled him to the ground in a "very violent" manner after he slightly shifted one of the barriers defining the concert perimeter, during a moment of peak crowd density and exit.

“Five of them took me down,” asserts this attendee, who explains that he went to the concert with his partner and two minors. According to his account, when the time came to leave the venue, the barriers installed around the space created a “bottleneck” due to the large number of people trying to leave simultaneously.

The witness explains that, faced with what he describes as a “crush” of people and with the concern that the minors could get hurt, he decided to move one of the barriers slightly to facilitate passage. It was at this moment, according to his version of events, that several members of the security staff intervened. The attendee claims that the security personnel acted with a forcefulness he considers unjustified and that they pinned him down with five people, with one individual having a knee on his neck area. "It looked like I had killed someone," he confesses, visibly affected.

As a consequence of the intervention, he states that he suffered a muscle contusion and various scratches on his body. Furthermore, he points out that following the reaction of concern from one of the minors he was accompanying, the security guards pushed her violently. He also claims that he was handcuffed and subsequently taken to a Local Police of Palma tent set up in the concert area.

According to his account, a few minutes later the officers told him he could leave, which is why he considers that this fact "reaffirms" that he did not commit any action that would justify such a reaction from the security staff. The witness also points out that the security members who intervened were not wearing visible identification of the company they worked for. This circumstance makes it difficult, he explains, to subsequently identify those responsible for the action.

The situation, according to this attendee, occurred in a context of high public concentration at the exits. The concert perimeter was delimited with barriers that, as he explains, had not been installed in the same way at the event held in the same space for the Patron Saint of Palma a week earlier.

According to the witness, the arrangement of the barriers caused the public to concentrate at specific points when leaving, a fact that would have caused the situation he describes as a stampede of people. Another concert attendee also explains that the attire and appearance of the security personnel deployed during the event caught his attention.

According to this witness, some of the team members were wearing bulletproof vests or similar-looking ones, clothing that, together with their attitude, seemed "exaggerated" to him for the type of audience present that night. "The attire and presence of the security staff at a concert where there were mainly teenagers, young people, and families with minors seemed striking to me," he explains.

This second witness points out that at the time he even commented to his companions on the resemblance that, in his opinion, that attire had to "almost paramilitary" equipment.

Neither the Local Police nor Trui have any record of the action.

In light of these accusations, the Palma Local Police indicate that they have no record of any disturbance or arrest. The police sources consulted also conveyed their lack of knowledge regarding the company in charge of concert security.

For its part, Trui Espectacles, the company awarded the logistics for the event organized by the Palma City Council, also stresses that it has no record of this alleged abuse and states that it does not know which company was in charge of security.
