PalmaThe National Police have arrested a man in Palma accused of having mistreated his ex-partner, to whom he had allegedly been threatening to kill for months. The events took place on Friday in Son Gotleu, when the man allegedly chased the victim through the street with a machete approximately half a meter long.

The agents were alerted via 091 that a man armed with a machete was mistreating his ex-partner in the middle of the public street. Upon arriving at the scene, they saw a man who appeared nervous and tried to flee upon detecting the police presence, for which reason they detained him.

The victim explained to the agents that the relationship had ended a few months ago and that, since then, the man insulted her and threatened to kill her every time they met on the street. According to her account, the man had warned her: "If you report me, I'll kill you."

On the day of the events, the alleged aggressor allegedly insulted the woman and hit her in the face with a branch. When the victim tried to flee, the man allegedly threw a knife at her and chased her with the machete. A witness had to intervene to separate him and prevent the situation from escalating.

When the police arrived, the man allegedly threw the machete under a truck. After listening to the victim's account, the agents located the weapon at the indicated location and arrested the man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of mistreatment.
