PalmaThe Local Police of Palma is investigating a 31-year-old driver for causing an accident with injuries and subsequently refusing to undergo the second breathalyzer test. The events took place in the early hours of March 28 in the center of Palma.

According to information from the police force, the accident occurred around 2:15 AM at the intersection of 31 de Desembre street and Antoni Marquès street. According to the reconstruction of events, the driver was heading towards the Avenues when he overtook another vehicle on the right lane and crossed the intersection against a red light.

This maneuver caused a collision with another car that was correctly circulating on Antoni Marquès street with a green light. As a result of the impact, the affected driver suffered multiple contusions and a left leg injury, for which he had to be transported by ambulance to a health center.

The officers detected that the responsible driver showed clear signs of intoxication. In an initial indicative test, he registered a result of 0.85 milligrams per liter of exhaled air, a rate far exceeding the permitted limit. However, the man refused to take the second mandatory test.

For these reasons, the Local Police informed him of his status as an investigated person not detained for an alleged crime of refusing to undergo breathalyzer tests. Additionally, he was also administratively fined for not respecting the red light.

The police report has been sent to the Palma Court of First Instance, which will be responsible for continuing the investigation of the case.
