PalmThe Palma City Council plans to transform the site of the old prison into a new residential complex with more than a hundred endowment homes. The project includes around 130 apartments, with a combination of protected, assisted living, and affordable rental housing.

A portion of these accommodations will be allocated to vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, women experiencing violence, or people with disabilities, as well as resources linked to social services and third-sector entities. Furthermore, rotating housing is also planned to provide temporary responses to emergency housing situations.

The project is part of the reconversion of a degraded space, where a roundabout is also planned, and it comes amid the eviction process of the more than 200 people who reside there in substandard housing, a fact that is generating controversy and social pressure to guarantee dignified alternatives.
