LloretThe best llonguet from Mallorca is not eaten in the capital, but in the heart of the Pla region. In fact, it is made in the center of the island, in Lloret de Vistalegre, and precisely very close to the place where the milestone indicating what - for many people - is the center of Mallorca is located.

At the head of the bar-restaurant sa Comuna de Lloret, Borja Salas, was proclaimed winner of the contest organized by the Palma City Council and the Association of Cooks and Pastry Chefs of the Balearic Islands (ASCAIB) held in es Pil·larí within the framework of the tenth edition of the Fira del Llonguet.

The competition sought the perfect combination of tradition and innovation within the framework of an exhibition born to reinforce this typical roll as a symbol of local gastronomy and Palma's identity.

In this context, Sa Comuna de Lloret's proposal was the winner with the squid llonguet with kimchi mayonnaise, a creation that, in fact, “is the star llonguet of Sa Comuna”, explains Salas.

The creation is an explosion of contrasts that pairs the texture of the bread with seafood and the fusion touch with Asian cuisine that the kimchi provides. “The recipe is simple and basically it is a reinterpretation of the typical squid sandwich that we make at Calamarins and we add our kimchi mayonnaise touch”, explains Salas, who adds that “the truth is that it has always worked very well for us”.

From now on, anyone who wants to try what will be the best llonguet in Mallorca at least until the 2027 edition of the competition, will be able to do so at sa Comuna de Lloret or at the food truck they often set up at island events. Without going any further, on Sunday, May 3rd, it will be present at the Sineu Fair.

“It is our star sandwich for a snack on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings, and now we will also have it for dinner,” explains Salas.
