PalmaVox has filed a lawsuit against the Spanish government delegate in the Balearic Islands, Alfonso Rodríguez, for the incidents recorded on Friday in Mahón during the anti-fascist protest against the rally of the leader of the party, Santiago Abascal. The far-right party accuses Rodríguez of having allowed a demonstration a few meters from the event despite the risk that, as it maintains, was known, and demands an investigation into both the organizers of the mobilization and the perpetrators of the violent acts.
The party reported this Saturday on the filing of the document, in which it considers that the Spanish government's Delegation did not have sufficient means to guarantee security during the rally. Vox maintains that the organization was aware of the holding of the event and the incidents recorded two days earlier in A Coruña and Avilés, but that, despite this, it allowed a protest against it at a short distance. The complaint attributes to the delegate possible electoral crimes, against civil rights, and administrative prevarication. Furthermore, it requests that the organizers of the demonstration and the individuals who may have carried out the violent acts be investigated.
In its written statement, Vox points out that the protesters left the authorized space for the protest, blocked the exits of the square, and threw objects at the officers. It also asserts that Abascal's vehicle was surrounded and struck, and that it was hit by a chair. The party considers that these events took place in a context where the Government Delegation of Spain had prior knowledge of the holding of the rally and the incidents recorded in other cities during Vox events.
Therefore, it demands that the circumstances under which the gathering was authorized be investigated and that the files of the calls, risk reports, and police deployment orders be incorporated into the case. The lawsuit thus focuses on the responsibility that Vox attributes to the government delegate regarding the management of the protest and the security measures adopted during Abascal's rally in Mahón. The accusations made by the party will have to be examined in the judicial proceeding.
